Stress Relief

Since election day there are many people who are dealing with shock, upset, fear, anger and outright depression.

Here are some things that can help if you are experiencing difficulty with the recent turn of events.

TAKE A WALK
Go for a walk around the block or longer. Even better, go to a park or to the beach – anywhere in nature. This helps get the endorphins going, oxygenates the blood and diverts the mind. Walking with a friend is even better!

 BREATHE
Just sit where you are and take 36 Circulating Breaths. This is a Jin Shin Jyutsu method that helps all the body’s systems. Inhale thinking of the breath coming up the back, exhale thinking of the breath going down the front. It helps with the physical, mental and emotional stress and pain.

 HOLD YOUR WRIST (17)
This CALMS the MIND and the NERVES. There is a Jin Shin Jyutsu point on the outside of the wrist (little finger side of the wrist) and it is in the ‘bowl’ just above the wrist bone (ulna). See the photo for the location. In Jin Shin Jyutsu this is known as the #17 and among other things, the #17 helps to calm the mind and nerves. You just lightly hold this point, relax your shoulders and breathe and in a few minutes you will feel more relaxed and peaceful.

CALL A FRIEND
Call someone who is a trusted friend. Sometimes just getting out of your own head helps. Like a friend of mine used to say – ” The mind is a dangerous neighborhood. Don’t go there alone!”
